Quality Control Technician
A Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring the quality of the products against their specifications.

Job Description

The Quality Control (QC) technician measures products against specifications by visually inspecting products to ensure a quality product is being produced. A QC inspects a products quality before, during and after its assembly. This includes inspecting all of the materials used, including raw materials, to make sure that they are up to standard. He or she is able to use diagrams or drawings with dimensions. The work involves reading and interpreting assembly diagrams, as well as making sketches. He or she demonstrates good oral and written communication skills, such as discussing customer requirements, actively participating in meetings, and completing quality records.

Daily Activities

  • performs testing of manufactured parts or products to certify quality and adherence to specifications; reports common product faults to quality assurance
  • uses analytical skills and performs calculations related to materials or processes skills;
  • demonstrates basic knowledge of mould principles;
  • assists in preventative and ongoing maintenance of selected measurement tools;
  • monitors the quality of products, processes, or quality management systems

The QC technician assists in preventative and on-going maintenance of selected measurement tools. When required, he or she moves materials or products to designated areas.  This involves describing workplace recycling methods and distinguishing between reusable materials and scrap. Further, the technician participates in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, by reporting potential hazards and unsafe work practices, etc.

In the area of quality control, the technician performs duties, such as checking the quality of raw materials against company standards, inspecting products against specifications, conducting tests, identifying product deficiencies, and quarantining non-conforming products. He or she also demonstrates an understanding of the production process.
