The CPSC guides are provided for secondary and post-secondary students, along with their teachers and counsellors, as resources to explore the plastics industry and the career opportunities it offers.

Teacher's Guide

Teacher’s Guide
This resource provides a step-by-step approach for teachers and counsellors to easily and effectively inform students about career opportunities in the plastics industry. The guide includes:

  • career profiles of 9 key occupations within the industry, from entry-level to highly-skilled positions with a range of required education and skill levels
  • information about plastics technology programs and where they are offered
  • lesson plans for hands-on classroom activities highlighting some of the key concepts in plastics processing (activities may be teacher-led or self-directed)
  • a curriculum matrix for implementing activities in the classroom


Student’s Guide
A matching Student’s Guide exists for students to explore plastics, the industry, and how their skills will lead to employment within it. The guide contains:

  • activities highlighting some of the key concepts in plastics processing
  • key information about the industry and career paths
  • career profiles of 9 key occupations within the plastics sector

The Plastics Virtual Classroom
The Plastics Virtual Classroom is a teaching resource for grade 9 & 10 teachers that examines the Canadian plastics industry from three perspectives: Science, the Environment, and Business.
